Hillsborough County pool permits

274 new in-ground pools were permitted on homes in Hillsborough County in the last 90 days, 81 of them in the last 30. 70% are owner-occupied homes. Each one will need a weekly pool service once it's filled.

Covers building permits for unincorporated Hillsborough County (Brandon, Riverview, Valrico, Lutz and more; not the City of Tampa). Trade-only roof and electrical permits aren't published, so re-roof counts are low. Single-family homes and duplexes only; condo and HOA pools excluded. Data freshness: as the city publishes, currently ~4 business days.

About these numbers

What counts as a new pool? A permit for a new in-ground pool on a single-family home or duplex, read from the permit's type and description. Spas, remodels, resurfacing and above-ground pools are counted separately. Condo, HOA and commercial pools are left out.

When does a new pool need service? Weeks after the permit is filed, once the pool passes final inspection and is filled. That's when the homeowner picks a weekly pool service, and when the builder stops looking after it.

Where does this come from? Public building permits from Hillsborough County, refreshed every weekday.
